Muskegon Railroad Historical Society Board approves the tear down and re-build of the "HO" scale layout
In a unanimous vote, the Board of Directors overwhelmingly approved the proposal bought forward by HO chairman Timothy Suckow. The board had many questions in their deliberations but in the end came together to make the approval for the members of the HO group to move forward in the tear down and then re-build of a more updated "Operations" oriented layout.
Members will be charged an additional $10.00 per month surcharge to be a participating member of the HO group. This surcharge will be used to payback a $1200.00 "Loan" to the group within a three year time period.
Further details will be released as they become available.

September 2011 Update - work is progressing on finishing the repairs to the HO room before construction of the new benchwork will begin. Plans are to have benchwork started sometime in October 2011 and at least a section of the layout will have running trains by the 2011 Holiday Open Houses scheduled for the beginning of December 2011. Come on down and check out the work the HO Gauge group has done!

A chronicle of the efforts to create a new model railroad basement layout.
Check out Tim's blog. He plans to chronicle the creation of his HO scale layout. So far it is a great read and I am sure it will get even better once he starts the build process. Great pictures, track plan, and some history.

I highly recommend reading his blog and coming to meet Tim at the MRHS building. On most Saturdays he can be found in the HO room or the back work room.

Also, for those interested in a website to display their work blogspot.com is a great, easy to use and free, alternative to requesting space on the MRHS website.

A nice little source on some of Michigan's earliest railroads.
Found this website the other day. It contains a large amount of data and vintage photography of Michigan's early railroads. I highly suggest you take a look.
